Our family loves visiting America’s National Parks.  Below you will find an abbreviated list of some of the parks that we have been to. After spending so much time in National Parks, I have a couple of suggestions.  Make your first stop to a visitors center. Many parks have a 20 minute movie that provides an overview and history of the park. It is always worth the time to sit in on this. Your next stop should always be the ranger desk in the Visitor’s Center.  The rangers at this desk are there for one reason. They want to help you make the most of your time in the park and to be safe doing it.  Your conversation with the rangers needs to start with how long you will be in the park, what level of hiking that you are comfortable with, and how much driving that you want to do.  Armed with this info, the Rangers will custom tailor an itinerary just for you. They will give you trail maps, informative brochures, and  any other important information to help make your trip awesome.  Wandering through a National Park aimlessly is a bad idea. Visit a Ranger Station to make the most of your time! Another important piece of advice is to sit down and read the park paper before setting out. When you paid your entrance fee, you were probably given a park paper. Don’t throw it out! There is a ton of great info in there.  Among so much else, it gives schedules for Ranger Programs, Ranger led hikes, special events, astronomy programs, kids events, etc..  Like I said before, the Rangers are there to help. So let them. They are your guide to the National Parks and they are very good at what they do.
