I bet some of you had thought that we may have fallen off a mountain or perhaps we had been eaten by bears, but I am happy to report that we are safe and sound. We have been unplugged and offline for the last six days. Yosemite National Park is one of those places where cell phones, computers, and technology simply do not jive with the surroundings.  This place inspires the uninspired, moves the stoic, and warms the coldest of hearts. It is so hard to put into words our last six days. It goes beyond the beauty. It goes beyond the weather, and it transcends the natural surroundings. Yosemite is so much more. For example, we were in a campground with hundreds of other families with young children for 5 nights.  In that time we never heard yelling, screaming, fighting, or any drunken campfire scenes that are so typical in camping. This was a church and people simply respected where they were and why they came here. I really wish we could have spent more time. We barely scratched the surface of this national treasure.  We did see a lot

We hiked, we biked, we kayaked, but we did not have enough time to simply sit and reflect. This provides a perfect excuse to come back in a couple of years and complete our Yosemite mission. For the next trip I pledge to return 20 lbs lighter and in much better shape. Some of the really great hikes, require serious physical stamina that I have to sadly admit escapes my current state of fitness.  I could go on and on about all of the great experiences that we had this week. The early morning hikes with Hunter, the bear hunting walks with Colby, and all of the other great things we did as a family will be forever ingrained in my memory. As if all of this was not enough, we had some very special visitors that were the icing on the Yosemite cake. My Aunts Joanne and Elizabeth joined us from Carmel, CA.  We spent three days together inside the park, sightseeing, relaxing, eating, drinking, and really enjoying each others company.  These are two of my favorite people in the world. I can not even tell you how thankful I am to both of them for taking the time out to join us this week and share in our special time. OK. I am half a bottle of red wine deep at this point. That is my cue to wrap it up. I will try to keep up to date from here on out.
