On our way to Maine, we stopped in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. We thought that perhaps that we would do a the cog railway up to the top of Mt. Washington, but it was silly expensive at $79 per person. We have been to the top of bigger mountains and we have done the only other cog railway in the US at Pikes Peak.  There was no need to blow $320 for this one.  Finding a campground that allowed dogs and one that could accommodate a big rig like ours was challenging. We ended up at Eastern Slope Camping Area right on the Saco River. It turned out to be a good find. They had a shuttle service that brought us and our Kayaks up river in the AM for an all day paddle down the Saco River.

At the end we simply ported at our campground and carried the boats 300 feet back to the  RV. Once again our Sea Eagle inflatable kayaks proved themselves. We were bouncing off rocks and debris most of the day without a problem. I almost can’t believe how well these things have treated us for the past 7 years.  The weather around here changes by the hour, but we were lucky to get a clear day in the 70’s for our river run.  It was a great day that ended with a great meal.

Just 20 miles away in the middle of absolutely nowhere is Ebinezer’s  Pub. This out of the way place just happens to have been rated the best beer bar in the World many times over. People make pilgrimages here from all over just to sample the unique selection of over 1000 different beers including 50 or so taps of unique Belgian beers. Needless to say, I was in heaven.  We ended the day with some good food and very good beer. We will be moving on to Maine soon in hopes of landing some land locked Salmon on Long Lake where we will be staying for a few days.
